Year 1

This half term we will be learning about animals, including dinosaurs, farm animals and their products, polar and jungle/safari animals (looking at hot and cold habitats), and finally mini-beasts! The children will look at naming animals and their babies, habitats and sorting animals by different criteria. 


Within the Key Stage 1 curriculum, Year 1 will cover the areas below:



Phonics-Learning set 1, 2 or 3 sounds.
Reading high frequency words.
Writing in sentences using capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
Handwriting and letter formation.



Counting to 100 and back.

Recognising numbers.

Place value.

Writing numbers.

Ordering numbers.

2D and 3D shapes.

Addition and subtraction.

Telling the time o'clock and half past.

Money-recognising coins and adding them.



Sing in tune.
Playing percussion instruments to the beat.
Actions in time to music.
Clap a rhythm.


Logging on to the computer.
Programming Bee-bots.
