Autumn term 1
In year 1, our theme for this half term is 'Ourselves'.
Our Phonics scheme is Read, Write inc.
In literacy we are looking at expanding our vocabulary, sentence writing, adjectives and poetry.
The children are learning to:
- Read, write and order numbers to 20.
- Add numbers to 20.
- Identify and describe 2D and 3D shapes.
The children are learning about weather and how it changes through the year. They are also learning the seasons and the changes each season brings.
The children will be looking at how they have changed since they were born. They will also be looking at family trees and learning about family members.
For bonfire night, we will be learning about Guy Fawkes.
The children will be looking at the globe to see some of the places we have been on holiday.
The children will be learning our address and learning about our local area.
The children will be creating landscape pictures of holiday scenes.
The children will be making our self portraits the style of an artist.
The children will be making a windsock for our weather station.
The children will be using natural materials to make temporary sculptures and transient art pictures.
The children will be learning different songs about senses.
The children will be learning about keeping a steady beat using body percussion and instruments.
The children will be learning about signs of autumn, animal homes, plants that grow in autumn and winter.
The children will be learning about the story of Diwali.
Information Communication Technology:
The children will be learning how to log on to the laptops, as well as open and play simple games.
The children are taking part in MK Springers gymnastics sessions once a week, learning different balances and jumps.
